Cocina CentroAmerica: Reviews & Ratings
Best pupusas in Tulsa so far. I still have about two more places to try, but I've tried most of Tulsa's pupusas, and these are my favorite. My dad's from Guatemala, and he agreed that these might be the best. It was my second time coming, and the food was just as good.
This hidden little spot is amazing. My daughter was craving pupusas and her favorite spot was closed for good so I googled for a new place and this one caught my attention. It did not disappoint ! The service was amazing as my daughter, 2 grandkids and I walked in the door, we were acknowledged, greeted & seated in seconds. There were other tables already there enjoying their meals so it was nice to be taken care so quickly. Menu's and drink order followed, we scaned through their choices & ordered. Kids (11 & 8 yr old) had the Chicken Quesadilla, it was made to order coming out pipping hot & oozing cheese and full of chicken pieces (not shredded) with a side of crema and lettuce, they had the pineapple agua fresca (delicious) and a mexican glass bottle of Sprite. My daughter & I each ordered a Chese & loroco, cheese & chicharrón and a cheese & bean pupusas with 2 pork tamales and 2 mexican glass bottles of Coca-cola. Uffff everything was made on the spot, except of course the tamales , everything came out pipping hot, flavorful and delicious. Their encurtido for the pupusas was so fresh and full of flavor, with a kick of spice. Definitely well prepared and flavorful. We are definitely coming back for more since we need to try their chicharrón with fried yuca (cassava). It was a wonderful experience for the kiddos & ourselves. We spent for 13 items, around $55.00 with tax and tip included. Not bad for 4 people!
Beat pupusas in town hands down. I’m Salvadoran is this is the best it gets in tulsa. No exactly like back home but he gets pretty close and super nice guy. Reasonably priced and it’s where the Salvadorans go to eat here in town.
Wow!!!! The food was fabulous. The flavor combo. Love it.
1st time visitor as an American to try the El Salvadorian cuisine. The waitress was pleasant and spoke English, which I found helpful. I enjoyed the food! I got the pollo con tajada, which is a crispy fried chicken leg quarter on top of fried green plantain and coleslaw with pickled onions. I also had a pupusas, which is a fried bread stuffed with meat, beans and other things. I think the bread is a corn masa base that's formed around the meat mixture, then fried. Good atmosphere, welcoming to all nationalities. Give them a try!
The Pupusas Revueltas are amazing here. Found this place while staying nearby and found this place to be a great stop for dinner. Their food is authentic as it gets and very delicious. We ordered popusas revueltas, steak quesadilla, and Carne Asada plate. All entrees were delicious and we wish we didn't arrive so close to closing hour to enjoy another helping. The portions are very generous.
Si están buenas las pupusas, and I’m a Salvi girl myself, from the heart of it all Olocuilta. Super small place but I was so surprised to see the selection Salvi snacks and drinks they had. They have a large menu but I can only speak to the pupusas. Really good, big size. Service was great. The first time I went they had lost my order, I had called and ordered before hand, but the front end staff was so quick to resolve the problem. I like stopping by here whenever I’m in Tulsa!
Very good food! Stopped by on a whim, not having read any reviews, and was pleasantly surprised with the lunch I had which was the Chili Relleno. Although I don't claim to be an expert on Salvadorian food, it definitely had a different flair than traditional Mexican food. I think it's safe to say that if you like Mexican food, give this place a shot. Do note that they will not serve you a glass of water, you must purchase either bottled water or a Mexican soda.
